University of Oregon

Campus Operations

Campus Operations include everything that keeps the University running. In a coordinated effort between staff, students, faculty, and administration the UO has been actively implementing sustainable policies and procedures in everyday operations, campus living, and future growth.

Our pesticides and toxin reduction efforts, "green" buildings, and a nationally recognized recycling program have reduced our carbon footprint. These and other efforts are guided by the Sustainability Development Plan, Comprehensive Environmental Policy Statement, and the Bike Plan. As a result, the UO has accomplished major achievements in sustainability, including the Lillis Business Complex which was designed to be 50% more energy efficient than required by state code, and a recycling program that recovers 47% of all University waste.

The Campus Recycling program boasts over 2,000 collection sites,
which collect traditional and non-traditional recyclables.
