OTREC is a National University Transportation Center created
by Congress in 2005 and is a partnership between Portland State University, the
University of Oregon, Oregon State University, and the Oregon Institute of
Technology. Through collaboration and partnerships with transportation
agencies, industry, and other universities in the Northwest, OTREC aims to
address the transportation needs of Oregon, the Northwest, and the nation. OTREC sponsors research, education and
technology transfer projects. OTREC
supports multidisciplinary faculty investigators at its partner universities
through grants for multi-model transportation research to meet the region’s
need for safe, efficient and environmentally sound movement of people and
goods. In 2006-2007, OTREC funded six
individual transportation research projects at the University of Oregon,
including an initiative for bicycle and pedestrian innovation and a city design
lecture series.
