Holistic Options for Planet Earth Sustainability (HOPES)
The HOPES conference is an annual event, held every April, and sponsored by the Ecological Design Center, a student group at the University of Oregon. The conference is an opportunity for students, faculty, and community members to discuss the relationship between ecology and design, and how this connection can produce sustainable buildings. Public Interest Environmental Law Conference (PIELC)
The PIELC is the premier gathering for environmentalists worldwide, and is distinguished as the oldest and largest of its kind. The Conference brings together upwards of 3,000 activists, attorneys, students, scientists, and concerned citizens from more than fifty countries to share their experience and expertise. Organized by the student volunteers of Land Air Water, the conference acts as a forum for discussion of a variety of issues surrounding environmental law and litigation.Visit the PIELC website for more information.
Sustainable Business Symposium (SBS)
In 2008, the School of Law sponsored the first annual Sustainable Business Symposium. The Law Students for Sustainable Business (LSSB), an 80-member student group with the primary goal of training law students on how to support the rapidly growing “green economy,” sponsored the symposium to educate students on the link between successful businesses and sustainable practice. The symposium – free of cost to students – featured a series of panels on topics such as renewable energy, sustainable development and green building, and carbon policy. Sustainable Advantage Conference
The Sustainable Advantage Conference, formerly the Sustainable Business Symposium, is a student initiated conference that serves as a forum to discuss sustainable business practices, showcasing businesses that have successfully integrated principles of sustainability in order to inform students and community members. The conference aims to deliver concrete, actionable steps that attendees can immediately implement in the office or factory. It offers exlclusive peer-to-peer networking, practical tips from panelists, and exposure to the latest solutions in sustainable business at its Product Expo.
