Bicycles
Roughly 15% of UO Students ride their bikes to campus. UO provides 4,000 secure bike parking spaces on campus. All bikes must be registered with the Department of Public Safety, which provides registration free of charge.

The Outdoor Program also manages the Bike Center, encompassing the Bike Loan Program and a Bike Maintenance Shop located in its Trip and Rental Facility (aka the Barn). The Bike Loan Program offers long-term bike loans to students. The OP uses bikes that have been impounded by DPS and remain unclaimed. The bikes are refurbished and outfitted with front and rear lights, fenders, a basket, lock and helmet. Students leave a $65 deposit, which is refunded after the bike is returned.
LTD Buses
Since 1988 student fees have provided bus access for the entire student population, with rides anywhere in the LTD’s service area. Approximately 22% of students use the bus to get to campus every day. Your UO ID functions as your bus pass.
LTD provides 26 park-and-ride locations, of which, seven offer direct service to the University. Furthermore, the University provides park-and-ride services to many sporting events, including football games.
Finally, the LTD Breeze, provides quick service between Campus and major locations, like Eugene Station, Fifth Street Public Market and Valley River Center.
Cars
The UO tries to encourage the use of alternative transportation to and from campus – thus driving to campus is discouraged. The UO has one of the lowest ratios of vehicle parking spaces to people in the nation, with only one space for every eight campus users.
If driving is a must, the UO supports and encourages the use of carpools. The University also offers the free online service AlterNetRides, which helps coordinate ride matching between faculty, staff and students.
Carpoolers can also apply to the Department of Public Safety for a carpool parking permit, which is less expensive per person than single occupancy vehicle permits. Additionally, Priority Parking is available for carpoolers on 13th Ave.
